چکیده

Detecting a shallowly buried and elongated object estimating its orientation using commonly adopted co-polarized GPR system is challenging due to the presence of strong ground clutter that masks target reflection. A cross-polarized configuration can be used suppress reveal reflection, but it suffers from inconsistent detection capability which significantly varies with different orientations. To address this issue, we propose dual-cross-polarized (DCPD) method utilizes two antennas special arrangement detect object. The signals reflected by collected are combined in rotationally invariant manner ensure both effective suppression consistent irrespective orientation. In addition, present estimation (DCPOE) algorithm estimate data. proposed DCPOE less affected environmental noise performs robust accurate azimuth angle estimation. effectiveness techniques their advantages over existing have been demonstrated experimental Comparison results show maximum average errors 22.3{\deg} 10.9{\deg} for Alford rotation algorithm, while those 4.9{\deg} 1.8{\deg} cases. unified framework facilitate investigation mapping targets.

Detection of Shallowly Buried Landmines from Ground Penetrating Radar Signals

A method for detecting shallowly buried landmines using sequential GPR data is presented. After removing dominant coherent component of ground surface reflection from GPR data, three kinds of target features related to wave correlation, energy ratio, and signal arrival times are extracted. Since the detection problem treated here is reduced to a binary hypothesis test, an approach based on a li...

Detection of shallowly buried objects using impulse radar

The impulse radar has shown promising results for detecting buried objects, even non-metallic ones. One problem with ground penetrating radars is the strong backscattered signal from the ground surface. If the object is buried deeply below the surface this is no problem since the backscattered signal from the surface will arrive earlier than the target signal and we only have to gate the time s...

Imaging of Buried Landmines by Sar-gpr

Humanitarian demining by scientific methods is a very important technical issues and ground penetrating radar (GPR) can be one of the best solutions for this difficult task. However, strong clutter makes difficult for detecting buried landmines in real situations. We have developed a synthetic aperture based GPR and tested its capabilities by experiments. We found that synthetic aperture radar ...

Orientation estimation for corner detection

Although many work have been done on corner detection, no generally accepted mathematical definition exists. This paper gives an explicit definition of corner which is based on the multi-orientation nature of corner and presents an algorithm for corner detection based on orientation estimation. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is more accurate and noise-robust compared with...

Frequency band selection of radars for buried object detection

Choice of the operational frequency is one of the most responsible parts of any radar design process. Parameters of radars for buried object detection (BOD) are very sensitive to both carrier frequency and ranging signal bandwidth. Such radars have a specific propagation environment with a strong frequency-dependent attenuation and, as a result, short operational range. This fact dictates some ...
